Bridgnorth
The population of Bridgnorth is around 12,000 people. The most densely populated part of the town is in the northeast.
Data shows that many people commute within Bridgnorth, particularly into the town centre from the northeast. The town also draws commuters from outlying settlements such as Broseley in the north and Highley in the south.
In the 2011 census, almost 20% of residents said that they travelled to work by bicycle or on foot.
The A458 and the A442 present significant physical boundaries to those travelling into the town centre from the south and the east.
Bridgnorth has next to no cycle infrastructure currently. The National Cycle Route 45 ends in Upper Forge to the south and resumes north of the Bridgnorth Golf Course. This presents an opportunity to connect Bridgnorth into the wider network.
