Let's Talk TEC

The Let’s Talk TEC programme

Our Let’s Talk TEC programme has been developed to address the evolving needs of individuals and the rising demand for social care services in Shropshire. By harnessing the power of technology-enabled care (TEC), also known as assistive technology, the programme focuses on delivering robust risk management strategies, improved care outcomes and diminishing dependencies on conventional forms of care and support. There are a number of projects running across the programme, which are outlined below.

Supported living

The TEC programme began in 2020 when we identified the need to implement technology-enabled care across individuals living in 'supported living' accommodation.

Outcomes achieved from this project so far include:

  • Increased independence amongst supported living residents, thereby reducing decencies on paid support

  • Increased opportunities facilitated for learning and skill development through use of assistive technology devices and apps
  • The creation of robust risk management strategies through the use of monitoring and data insights

During the project, multiple case studies have been created to show how assistive technology has supported the needs of individuals in supported living accommodation, and their relative care providers.

The work completed has led to the development of a hybrid care and support model which consists of a blended mix of virtual, technological and face to face care and support delivery.

Domicilary care

Following the successful integration of assistive technology in supported living accommodations, the Let’s Talk TEC programme upscaled the approach to support those in receipt of domiciliary care with the aim of supporting individuals to retain independence, thereby allowing them to stay in their own homes for longer. To integrate this approach into domiciliary care we work closely with care providers, assistive technology suppliers and multidisciplinary teams within health and social care to ensure that suitable solutions and the right level of support is provided to meet individual's needs at home.
