The SEND and Alternative Provision (SENDAP) Change Programme is a national programme designed to test a number of policy changes to systems and processes for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those accessing Alternative Provision (AP).

For our region, the Change Programme Partnership consists of Shropshire Council, Telford and Wrekin Council, NHS Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System (ICS), Herefordshire and Worcestershire Councils and Hereford and Worcestershire ICS, with Telford and Wrekin Council being the named lead local authority.  We recently published an update on progress being made.

As part of the West Midlands SEND & AP Change Programme, we would like parent carer views and experiences on 'Inclusive Practice' in mainstream schools.  'Inclusive practice' is a teaching approach that recognises student diversity and uses this to ensure all children receive equal treatment, opportunities, and respect.  This includes behaviour support, flexible learning approaches and targeted support

As a parent carer, we would like to know your views on the following:

* How inclusive do you think mainstream schools are at supporting young people with SEN Support or with an Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP)?
* Your experience as a parent carer of a young person who is at SEN Support or has an EHCP.
* How could we improve the educational experience in mainstream settings with young people on SEND Support or with an EHCP?

You can give your feedback on the Parent carer WM CPP Inclusion Questionnaire.

Julie Johnson, Shropshire SENDAP Senior Lead, will be sharing the feedback with the DfE and REACh.  We can then use the feedback to facilitate co-production on development plans moving forward.

We value your feedback, and will be using it to enable us to design future reform testing as part of the SEND & AP Change Programme.

Feedback opportunity closes on Friday 13th December 2024 at 5.00pm.
Thank you for taking the time to complete the questionnaire.
