Jasmine's story

My name is Jasmine and I've just left the sixth form of the specialist academy I went to until year 14. I really enjoy performing arts, and have been in lots of plays at school and in my local drama group. I've just started a supported internship at the theatre in the next town, where I'm supported by a job coach. I go there each day by bus with my support worker, who is supporting me to learn to use buses and trains. Once I've finished my travel training, I'll be able to get to work on my own.

I’m really enjoying my internship. My job coach supports me to learn all the different things I need to know to be able to do well in my job. I hope to be able to work here once my internship is over, but if I can’t, I'll get help to find another job.

When I was still at school, I met my worker from the Preparing for Adulthood Team. We talked about what I'm good at doing for myself and what I'd like to do when I’m older. I told them I’m happy living at home with my parents at the moment, but would like to get out and about more with my friends. They helped me to find a personal assistant who helps me when I go swimming, meet friends and attend a youth club.
