The special guardians must report any safeguarding concerns to the police and/or resident children’s services immediately. Similarly, any professional involved with the family should make a safeguarding referral to the resident children’s services should they become aware that a child may be at significant risk of harm. This will trigger the appropriate level of assessment and support.
Universal services will continue to be offered, and therapeutic interventions will be continued where the child remains living with the family.
