People’s Emergency Briefing – screenings across Shropshire

Community screenings of the People’s Emergency Briefing are being shown across Shropshire. This is a nationally coordinated film and discussion initiative exploring the climate and nature crisis and what it means for communities, services and long term resilience.

Hosted by Chris Packham CBE, the film brings together leading UK experts in climate science, health, food security, economics, national security and nature. It includes footage from the landmark National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster for MPs and peers, and presents a clear, evidence based overview of the risks facing everyday life in Britain.

The initiative is explicitly non partisan and is supported by organisations including the National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF and the National Education Union.

Why this is relevant to Shropshire

We play a central role in responding to climate and nature risks, across housing, transport, planning, infrastructure, public health and emergency planning. Local areas are central to  resilience, flood risk management, heat preparedness and community risk assessment.

These screenings offer staff an opportunity to:

  • Hear a shared, evidence based national briefing
  • Understand how national risks translate locally in Shropshire
  • Take part in structured, respectful local discussions
  • Attend in a professional or personal capacity to listen, contribute or observe

Each event includes a facilitated local discussion following the film.
