Top up to the 2026/27 Crisis and Resilience Fund
Supporting low-income heating oil households
We very much welcome Monday’s (16 March 2026) announcement from the Prime Minister of additional funding to support people on a low income who rely on heating oil and are worried about rising costs.
The Government has confirmed £53 million of targeted support across the UK, with £27 million for England delivered through the Crisis and Resilience Fund, which will come into effect on 1 April 2026. The area covered by Shropshire Council has been identified as an area with higher numbers of heating‑oil‑reliant homes and will receive a share of this funding totalling just over £750,000.
We are now working through the details to ensure this funding is distributed fairly and reaches the people who need it most. More information for residents on how to access support will be shared soon.
