Paperless billing

Get started with paperless billing

More convenient for you, more cost effective for us. Apply to receive your council tax bill by email rather than having a paper copy sent to you each year.

Shropshire Council will extend its existing Community Tree Scheme to plant at least one additional tree for every household that opts out of council tax paper billing and switches to council tax e-billing.

What if I need a copy of my bill for ID?

You can still agree to e-billing as we send you a PDF version of your latest bill as part of the process. This provides greater flexibility as you can print it off yourself or display it on your mobile device.

Will all council tax correspondence now be sent to me via email?

No, e-billing means only your council tax bills will be sent via email, all other correspondence will still be sent via post.

What if my email address changes?

If you change your email address after you’ve agreed to e-billing, just let us know your new one as soon as possible and we'll ensure future bills are emailed to your new email address.

What if my partner has a different email address?

Where there are two or more liable parties we can only send one e-bill. We will send the e-bill to the e-mail address of the liable party that provides the e-mail address, or where one or more liable party have provided an e-mail address for e-billing, the e-bill will be e-mailed to the first name that is shown on the council tax bill.

What if I want to go back to paper bills?

You can opt out of e-billing at any time by contacting us.

What if I don't understand my bill?

We have provided an explanation of your bill on this page, however, if you do need more support, please contact us.
