Where can I get early help?

If you know what support you need, for example housing, advice about your child’s behaviour, or benefits assistance, you might find some useful services of support on our 'What is early help?' page, or on the Shropshire Family Information Service Directory.

If you’re not quite sure where to start, and you feel that you can, speak to someone in your life you trust, perhaps a teacher, your childcare provider, health visitor or any other professional who is supporting you. They'll work with you to solve some of the problems that you're facing. They should suggest you have a Family Meeting to start unpicking the situation together, and will come up with a plan that you’re all happy with. For further information about the process please visit What will happen when I ask for early help?

If you don’t have someone you feel you can talk to, then please come along to one of our Coffee and Chat drop in sessions, at our Family and Community Hubs where you can meet a Family Support Worker, and see how they can help you with:

  • Family life
  • Parenting support
  • Domestic abuse support
  • Money worries
  • Housing support
  • And much more

If you don’t have that trusted other person and you can’t get to a drop in, then you can call the Shropshire Council’s First Point of Contact on 0345 678 9021 and ask for the Early Help and Support Team.
