Health visiting

The aim of the Health Visiting Service is to achieve the best health and wellbeing for children from birth to five years of age, by identifying health needs and promoting healthy lifestyles. This includes delivery of health and development reviews, health promotion and parenting guidance tailored to individual families.

During pregnancy health visitors offer a targeted antenatal visit for some families after 28 weeks. This is an opportunity to discuss any questions you have, and go through some useful information for you and your baby’s health and wellbeing, including:

  • Feeding your baby
  • Encouraging your baby’s development
  • General parenting

...as well as introducing you to your local Health Visiting Team.
