Support for you and your family - introducing the early help offer
All children, young people and families in Shropshire can access services such as health and education - these are known as 'universal services' because they're available to all.
However, some will need extra support in order to be healthy, safe and to achieve their potential. We call this ‘early help’. Early help means providing support as soon as a difficulty emerges, so that children, young people and families get the right help at the right time, to improve their lives now and in the future.
We want all children and young people in Shropshire to achieve the best possible outcomes and to receive the support they need - when they need it most. This early help support could come from one service or a few different types of services, including a targeted service.
If you feel that you and your family might need some additional help and support, you’re in the right place to find out more.
Family hubs offer a drop-in session that provides free information, advice and support for families from Shropshire Council and their health and community partners.
Visitors can have a coffee and a chat, and find out about support for family life, parenting, domestic abuse, money worries, housing support and much more.
The team supports families with children aged 0-19 years (up to 25 years for young people with special educational needs and disabilities), making it easier for families in Shropshire to get the right support at the right time.
The family hubs are in Oswestry, Bridgnorth, Market Drayton, Shrewsbury and Ludlow. Early help is a team effort, not just one service. All agencies that work with children, young people and families are responsible for listening to their concerns and worries. They'll work closely with you and your family to make sure you get the right support at the right time.
