Mile End improvements

We've completed a major road improvement project at the Mile End junction in Oswestry, which will enable the development of new housing and employment opportunities in the area. The project was funded by the Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF) awarded by Home England and the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) through the government’s Growth Deal.

The project involved the construction of a new roundabout and road layout, a pedestrian and cycle bridge over the A5, and environmental and utility works. The project was delivered on time and within budget by Balfour Beatty, WSP, and National Highways. The project also generated significant social value for the local community, such as local employment, apprenticeships, and waste reduction.

The new road and bridge will provide access to the Oswestry Innovation Park, a planned development of serviced employment land plots that will support the economic growth and prosperity of Oswestry and the wider region. We're planning to start the infrastructure works on the Oswestry Innovation Park from June 2024, with the aim of making the land available for development by early 2025.
