Think you have suffered from food poisoning?
Food poisoning is an illness caused by eating contaminated food. It's not usually serious and most people get better within a few days without treatment. If you believe you're suffering from it, you should contact your local GP surgery for further advice. The NHS website also offers useful information on diagnosing and treating the symptoms of food poisoning, and the treatment of the symptoms.

How do I report food poisoning?
You can either use the Food Standards Agency website to make a report concerning a specific premise with regards to food poisoning, or report the matter directly to us by filling in the 'reporting suspected food poisoning' form.
We will only look into complaints of food poisoning in the following instances:
- Where we have received laboratory test results confirming food poisoning. You can contact your GP to arrange this
- Where a person has food poisoning and works handling food
- Where we have multiple cases of illness not contained within a family unit
Anonymous complaints will not be investigated.
Please be aware that food poisoning bacteria have different incubation times (the time from eating the food to becoming ill) and are often associated with certain food types. It is important to realise therefore, that the last meal you ate may not be the cause of your symptoms.
