Vicky Dudley

I qualified as a social worker in 2003 working within the Child Protection services. I later found my passion working in the Community Substance Misuse Team. I loved working with people enabling them to work towards a life without substances and better mental wellbeing. After 14 years there, latterly as the team manager, I moved to join Joint Training in 2016.

This role provides me with an opportunity to share my experience and knowledge with other people. I enjoy meeting new people who are wanting to extend their knowledge, understanding and expertise is assisting people within our communities. I deliver many modules in relation to safeguarding, both adults and children, developing skills in professional curiosity, and understanding the impact trauma can have in people’s lives. I still enjoy developing peoples understanding of substances and how they can impact individuals lives and how skills like Motivational Interviewing can enable practitioners to engage with individuals to explore ambivalence and build self-motivation to make positive changes. I am endorsed to deliver mental health first aid for both adults and young people and suicide first aid.

I hold a diploma in social work (DIPSW), a BA (Hons) in social studies and a diploma in addiction studies, together with numerous certificates which have helped me develop my own learning and knowledge. I'm also a qualified Social Work Practitioner Educator and embrace my role in assisting new cohorts of social workers to become qualified.

In my personal life I have four children who keep me pretty busy. As a family we run a boarding kennels for dogs, which is one of my personal passions. Beyond this I find I don’t have a great deal of spare time!
