Principles of Assertive Communication for Managers

Aims to: Introduce strategies you can use to become more assertive to further your confidence and explore influencing-skills when managing a team

Learning objectives: By the end of this session learners will have had the opportunity to:

  • Consider the definition of assertiveness 
  • Identify key skills and strategies on how to be assertive
  • Explore the benefits of being more assertive as a manager and how effective it can be when communicating with your employees/teams
  • Consider the risks of being too assertive and the effect it can have on our employees/teams
  • Explore the communication techniques that can be used to help assertiveness in the workplace

Audience: Team leaders, deputies and managers in health, care & other services
