Libraries Macbeth - Reader & Writer in Residence

Dave Andrews, our Reader & Writer in Residence, hosts a discussion which will explore the various themes in Shakespeare’s ‘Scottish’ play - murder, overambition, treason, deceit and guilt, as well as witchcraft, evil, repentance and grief.

Shakespeare’s psychological insight into Macbeth’s plight makes this a deeply disturbing and yet moving play which has continued to fascinate audiences and readers for centuries and still resonates deeply with us today. Familiarity with the plot will help but is by no means essential as a synopsis will be given. Dave will be very keen to hear your views on a play he considers Shakespeare’s greatest.
