Whitchurch

Whitchurch has a population of around 10,000 people, with the most densely populated areas in the southeast of the town.

At the time of the 2011 census, more than a quarter of residents in Whitchurch had commutes of under 2km and a third were under 5km. However, only 20% of residents said they would walk or cycle to work.

Whitchurch has a relatively hilly town centre which creates challenges for accessibility and makes cycling less attractive. The narrow streets result in narrow pavements and blind corners.

The current cycling network is fragmented. There is an opportunity to upgrade and join up the existing network to improve accessibility within the town.
