Carers
You may apply for a school street carer exemption permit if you provide regular care to a resident of a school street. This includes both professionals and anyone who looks after/transports a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, and they can't otherwise manage without their day-to-day support.
Private parking access
You may apply for a school street exemption permit if you have private parking within a restricted school street, for example, a garage rental agreement in your name.
Automatic exemptions
The following are all automatically exempt if actively engaged in business operations:
- Emergency services
- Waste collection
- Hackney carriage/private hire vehicle proprietors
- Other public transport services
- Marked delivery vans
- Funeral and wedding vehicles
Because children and families may be using the space in the road, we encourage eligible vehicles to enter and exit school streets with caution, and only where absolutely necessary to maintain safety, ensuring that vehicle volume and speed is kept to a minimum.
