HRC information

Household recycling centres (HRCs) are provided for local residents to drop off a wide range of recycling and items which are too big for the collection service. They're open from 9am-5pm everyday. Use our 'Household recycling centres' page to find your nearest.

Please note that it's an offence under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to bring waste from a business into these sites.

There are separate containers for recycling at all of the sites, so to help us maximise recycling and minimise congestion please separate your recycling before you come to the site. You can recycle 30 different types of material at our HRCs.

If you want to take your household waste to one of our five household recycling centres from Monday 4 November 2024 you’ll need to first book a slot. Making a booking will be possible from Tuesday 29 October. Bookings can only be made by people living in Shropshire.

Asbestos

If you're planning to bring household asbestos into any of the sites you must contact us in advance.

Construction waste

We only accept small amounts of construction waste (from domestic DIY activities only). If you're carrying out building work or producing large amounts of waste you'll need to hire a skip. Only small quantities of DIY waste will be accepted on site (no more than 0.5M cubed per month) or the equivalent of a small car boot. Any quantities over this amount aren't classed as general household waste and you should hire a skip to dispose of the waste. This is often an easier option to avoid lengthy unloading times at the recycling centre. Site attendants will refuse entry if the quantity is deemed too large.
