Dear Councillor Davenport,

I hope this email finds you well.

It was raised to my attention that you have requested an update regarding the CIL Stans Roundabout project.

I am pleased to report that construction of the scheme has progressed well and is now substantially complete, with some outstanding signage and road markings due to be finalised this Friday night (2nd February 2024).

During the site construction phase, an opportunity to improve the structural integrity and longevity of the roundabout on behalf of the local community was identified and communicated to Shropshire Council. Shropshire Council’s representatives agreed that the minor re-design to replace the kerbing with hatched road markings along the overrun area would dramatically minimise the possibility and potential collisions from Heavy Good Vehicles (HGV’s) when making manoeuvres at the roundabout, thereby reducing ongoing maintenance requirements and impact upon local road users.

If you have any other questions regarding this CIL project, I would advise contacting the CIL team via the Member’s Portal or by email (cilproject@shropshire.gov.uk). The enquiry will be captured on the Member’s Portal to ensure that Local Members have a detailed and reliable history of correspondence regarding such issues going forward.

Best Regards
