There are various trusts in Shropshire (all references to Shropshire include Telford and Wrekin). The trusts deliver great benefit into the local community and make a valuable contribution.

Rosalie Inskip Music Trust

About the Rosalie Inskip Music Trust

The Rosalie Inskip Music Trust was established in memory of renowned Shropshire musician Rosalie Inskip to support talented musicians across the county.

The trust provides financial assistance to Shropshire residents of any age who are undertaking, or about to undertake, musical education.

Its aim is to help aspiring musicians develop their skills, access opportunities, and achieve their musical potential through support with the costs of musical study, training, instruments, courses and travel.

Funding may be available towards a range of musical education activities, including:

  • Music tuition and lessons
  • Courses and workshops
  • Examination fees
  • Instrument purchase or hire
  • Other costs that support musical education and development

Each application is considered on its own merits and funding can only be awarded where the trustees are satisfied that it supports the purposes of the trust.

The examples above are provided for guidance only and are not exhaustive. The trustees retain discretion to consider other requests that further the charitable purposes of the trust.

Who is eligible?

The trust supports music students who:

  • Reside in Shropshire
  • Are undertaking, or about to undertake, musical education
  • Can provide evidence of their musical studies or planned musical education

Please note that music students can be of any age and the musical education may take place within or outside Shropshire.

Applications may also be submitted by organisations, schools, charities or music services where the funding will directly benefit eligible music students residing in Shropshire.

Evidence required

Applications should include:

  • Proof of residency in Shropshire
  • Evidence of current or proposed musical education
  • Evidence supporting the funding request, such as invoices or course information
  • Any other supporting information relevant to the application

Jubilee Trust

About the Jubilee Trust

The Jubilee Trust was established in 1977 following a donation from the Education Committee of Shropshire County Council to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The trust was created to provide lasting educational benefits for children and young people in Shropshire.

The Jubilee Trust exists to support and enhance educational opportunities for young people in Shropshire. The trust provides funding for educational activities, projects and facilities that enrich learning and broaden opportunities beyond those normally provided by local education authority funding.

The trustees may consider applications for a wide range of educational purposes, including:

  • Educational equipment and resources
  • Specialist software or technology
  • Educational visits and field trips
  • Courses, workshops and training opportunities
  • Books and learning materials
  • Specialist equipment required to support learning
  • Activities or opportunities that enhance educational development

Each application is considered on its own merits and funding can only be awarded where the trustees are satisfied that it supports the educational purposes of the trust.

  • Are under 19 years of age
  • Attend a school or further education institution in Shropshire. This includes;
    • Schools maintained by the local authority
    • Academies
    • Further education colleges in Shropshire

Applications may be submitted by:

  • Individual students (where appropriate);
  • Parents or guardians on behalf of a child or young person;
  • Schools and educational institutions; and
  • Other organisations whose application directly benefits eligible children and young people in Shropshire

Jubilee Trust School Uniform Grant

Please note that the uniform grant is now closed for 2026-27. The budget has been allocated in full, and we can no longer accept any further applications. 

The trustees of the Jubilee Trust have set aside part of the trust's available funds to provide grants to assist low-income families with the cost of school uniforms.

Each year, the trustees agree the total amount available for the scheme. Applications open on 1 May and remain open until the allocated funds have been fully awarded.

Grant amounts

The following grants are available:

  • £30 per primary school child
  • £50 per secondary school child
  • Maximum award of £100 per family

Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until the annual allocation has been exhausted.

Who is eligible?

The School Uniform Grant supports children and young people who:

  • Attend a primary or secondary school in Shropshire. This includes schools maintained by the local authority and academies
  • Are from a low-income household
  • Have not received a Jubilee Trust School Uniform Grant within the previous three years

Evidence required

Applicants will be required to provide:

  • One document confirming school attendance, such as a school admission or acceptance letter, school report, official correspondence from the school, or a screenshot from a school app that clearly shows the child's name and the name of the school
  • One document confirming low household income, such as a Universal Credit statement, Tax Credit award notice, or other evidence of benefits received

The trustees reserve the right to request additional information in support of an application where required.

How to apply

The online application form will open on the 1 May each year and will remain open until all available funding has been allocated.

Applications must be submitted using the official application form and include all required supporting evidence.

Please note that applications will not be processed if a School Uniform Grant has been awarded by the Jubilee Trust to the applicant within the previous three years.

Bowdler Educational Foundation

The Bowdler’s Educational Foundation provides small grants for educational purposes to individuals below the age of 25 who reside within the county of Shropshire.
