Educational setting

What do I need to consider before making a request?

Each school has a SEN notional budget to use to provide additional support and if they feel they need more they can also apply for additional funding through the Graduated Support Pathway.  If the child's needs are severe and/or complex, and they haven't progressed through the graduated support pathway, you or your child’s educational setting can request that Shropshire Council considers an EHCNA in order to determine whether or not it's necessary to issue an education health and care plan (EHCP).

How do I make a request?

Please complete:

  1. School request paperwork
  2. Costed provision map
  3. Person-centred plan - APDR (assess, plan, do, review)
  4. One-page profile
  5. Any other recent professional advice/reports

Please ensure all documents are:

- fully completed, signed and dated
- in PDF
- clearly named
- formatted in portrait, in the correct order and without any blank pages
- without passwords

If any of the paperwork is incomplete, not signed or missing this will cause delays.

How to send your request to us

All Shropshire schools must submit their request through the Shropshire SEND Portal. If you require access to the portal please email EHCPTeam@shropshire.gov.uk

Early years settings do not yet have access the the portal and they are asked to email their requests to EHCPTeam@shropshire.gov.uk.  We are looking to roll out access to the portal to Early Years settings in the autumn term.

If you are an independent or out of county school and you don't yet have access to the portal you may email your request to EHCPTeam@shropshire.gov.uk
