Specialist schools and resourced provision (hubs)

Shropshire is an inclusive local authority, so for the majority of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including those with an education, health and care plan (EHCP), their local mainstream school with be able to meet their needs. For a small number of children and young people with complex education, health and care needs a placement in a specialist setting or a resourced provision (hub) may be identified as appropriate. Resourced provisions (hubs) are located at a number of our mainstream schools and they provide additional specialist facilities on their site.

A child or young person must have an EHCP to attend a specialist setting or a resourced provision (hub).  All admissions are considered by Shropshire Council in accordance with the SEN and Disability Code of Practice and with consultation with the setting before a decision on a placement is made. Admissions are managed in partnership through consultation between the SEN Team, the setting and Shropshire School Admissions.  Please contact the SEN Team for more information.

Below you'll find information on the different specialist settings and resourced hubs that we currently have in Shropshire.

*The resourced provision (hubs) are relatively small provisions located across Shropshire. Many don’t have a specific designation of ‘need’ and are flexible with their admissions criteria. However, it's very important to make sure the mix of students considered to ensure that there's a suitable cohort of children who can thrive as a group and achieve the best possible outcomes. Placements are therefore very much considered on an individualised basis.  If you require any further information, please contact the SEN Team.
