Health
Health is an important part of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Framework. The Children and Families Act sets out that health must work alongside education, social care and other partners to meet the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
Health covers a wide range of services with the aim of keeping the community healthy / well both physically and mentally. It's only through working together with other parts of the SEND system that health services can have their greatest impact.
All children and young people should have access to universal health services such as health visitors, school nurses and GPs. Some children and young people with SEND will access additional health services which may be provided in the community or at hospital. Locally our main community providers are Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust and Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust.
