EHCP Team Phase Transfers Update (January 2026)
As the statutory phase transfer deadline of 15th February 26 is getting closer, we acknowledge that this can be an incredibly anxious time for Year 6 (Y6) pupils, their families and for staff at their current Primary School. Whilst the EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) Team have been working exceptionally hard to amend as many Y6 EHC plans as possible, we have unfortunately not been able to finalise as many as we would have like naming an appropriate secondary provision from September 2026.
We would like to communicate the following information in support of this process and provide some reassurances to families and existing Primary Schools:
If you have already received a Final version of your child’s EHC plan which names a Secondary provision from September 26, this is where your child will be going and you will NOT receive any further confirmation from either the EHCP Team or the Admissions Team around this, including on the day that pupils without an EHC plan receive notification of their secondary school placement 2nd March. Your child’s current Primary School should be liaising with both Parent Carers and the new setting around an appropriate transition plan for your child to ensure this is as a smooth as possible.
Further information and support with Transition is available from SENDIASS: https://www.shropshiresendiass.com/transition-transport-and-timetabling-1.
Shropshire Parent Carer Council (PACC) have also produced a Transition Guide: https://www.paccshropshire.org.uk/pacc-transitions-guide-published/
If you have not yet received a Final version of your child’s EHC plan which names a Secondary provision from September 26, please be assured this is currently being prioritised by either a KS2 Case Officer or by a member of the Annual Review Recovery Team (ARRT). We will continue to work hard beyond the deadline prioritising amending any Y6 EHC plans that have not yet been completed so that we can issue a Final EHC plan for your child as soon as possible. We would be grateful if you could direct any queries to the SENCO at your child’s current school in the first instance. If you do need to call the EHCP Team after the 15 February deadline has passed, please note this will be during half term and we will have a reduced number of staff available. If your query is urgent and you need to contact a member of the EHCP Team, please either email your Case Officer directly or call on Monday 16th February only when Case Officer’s will make themselves available if required.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this process so far. With your support we hope to be able to issue Final EHC plans for all Shropshire Y6 pupils very soon.
