Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce (APST) - Outshine
Outshine is Shropshire's Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce and operates in line with the three-tier model of alternative provision to support children with social, emotional or mental health needs who may be at risk of suspension or permanent exclusion.
Outshine's objectives include:
- Building capacity and early intervention approaches for pupils to succeed in their mainstream schools
- Reducing exclusions and suspensions whilst supporting the integration of excluded pupils back into
- Mainstream schools
- Developing the use of high-quality, short term or curriculum based off-site alternative provision
Outshine understands that many of our learners have complex and significant inclusion challenges and works with schools to overcome these collaboratively. Outshine is a multi-disciplinary team comprising:
- Senior outreach advisors
- Outreach support officers
- Occupational therapists
- Inclusion mentors
- Family support workers
- Reach inclusion hotline
Schools and settings will seek consent from parent-carers as part of the referral process to access Outshine.
