Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce (APST) - Outshine

Outshine is Shropshire's Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce and operates in line with the three-tier model of alternative provision to support children with social, emotional or mental health needs who may be at risk of suspension or permanent exclusion.

Outshine's objectives include:

  • Building capacity and early intervention approaches for pupils to succeed in their mainstream schools
  • Reducing exclusions and suspensions whilst supporting the integration of excluded pupils back into
  • Mainstream schools
  • Developing the use of high-quality, short term or curriculum based off-site alternative provision

Outshine understands that many of our learners have complex and significant inclusion challenges and works with schools to overcome these collaboratively. Outshine is a multi-disciplinary team comprising:

  • Senior outreach advisors
  • Outreach support officers
  • Occupational therapists
  • Inclusion mentors
  • Family support workers
  • Reach inclusion hotline

Schools and settings will seek consent from parent-carers as part of the referral process to access Outshine.
