Apprenticeships at Shropshire Council
Shropshire Council has more to offer than you might expect…
Apprenticeships are a great way to gain valuable hands-on experience in the workplace while studying towards an industry-recognised qualification and earning a wage. This is an increasingly popular option which can help you take your first steps on the career ladder, upskill yourself or help you to change your career.
On an apprenticeship you're employed to do a real job while studying for a nationally recognised formal qualification - usually for one day a week at a college, university or at a training centre. By the end of your apprenticeship you'll have gained the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in your chosen career, and you could also potentially progress your career to the next apprenticeship level.
There are a wide range of apprenticeships out there: accounting, IT, data, business, leadership, engineering and marketing, just to name a few! They're split into different levels which are listed below:
- Level 2 - equivalent to GCSEs (A*-C or 9-4 on the new scale)
- Level 3 - equivalent to A-levels
- Level 4/5 - equivalent to a foundation degree
- Level 6 - equivalent to a full bachelor’s degree
- Level 7 - equivalent to a master’s degree
