This accessibility statement applies to the mynext.shropshire.gov.uk website. This website is run by Shropshire Council.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • When the ‘Privacy notice’ webpage is zoomed in by 175%-200%, users must scroll in two dimensions in order to view all of the content. This fails WCAG success criteria 1.4.4 (resize text) and 1.4.10 (reflow) 
  • When the website is zoomed in by 150%-200% or used on hand-held devices such as mobiles, the ‘Steps’ section disappears. This fails WCAG success criteria 1.4.4 (resize text) and 1.4.10 (reflow)
  • The ‘address’ form field contains an orphaned form label. This fails WCAG success criteria 1.1.1 (non-text content), 1.3.1 (info and relationships), 2.4.6 (headings and labels) and 3.3.2, (labels or instructions). However, assistive technology such as screen readers will still be able to recognise the form control
  • The ‘date of birth’ form field contains a missing form label. This fails WCAG success criteria 1.1.1 (non-text content), 1.3.1 (info and relationships), 2.4.6 (headings and labels) and 3.3.2, (labels or instructions). However, assistive technology such as screen readers will still be able to recognise the form control
  • The focus indicator for checkboxes and drop-down lists don't meet the minimum colour contrast ratio requirement, which can cause difficulties for users with low vision or colour blindness. This fails WCAG success criteria 1.4.11 (non-text contrast)
  • If a user double clicks text within an ‘email’ form field, it causes it to be ‘launched’ (eg opens Outlook). This is an unexpected input and can cause confusion and navigation issues for users. This fails WCAG success criteria 3.2.2 (on input)
  • Some webpages have ARIA role descriptions that contain information that is already displayed on the webpage. This means the content is repeated for users with assistive technology such as screen readers. This fails WCAG success criteria 4.1.2 (name, role, value)

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Pdfs and other documents

The accessibility regulations don't require us to fix pdfs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new pdfs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Our accessibility roadmap is to review and resolve the accessibility issues listed in this statement by 6 August 2027.
