Document copy requests

We hold records relating to building regulation applications submitted to the authority. These records may include application forms, decision notices, completion certificates, plans and supporting documentation.

Requesting a completion certificate

If you require a duplicate copy of a building regulation completion certificate or approval, please submit a request using the form below. Alternatively, if works are still ongoing, please refer to the book an inspection page.

Where available, a copy of the certificate will only be provided to the property owner or to a person authorised to act on their behalf (a solicitor).

Please include:

• The property address
• The building control application reference number (if known)
• Your contact details
• Details of your interest in the property

There is a charge for archive searches and the provision of replacement documents.

Please note - we're legally required to maintain records of building works carried out under registered building control approvers (RBCAs) and works covered by the competent person scheme (e.g. FENSA). However, we're unable to provide copies of records or certificates issued by these organisations. Requests for such documentation should be directed to the relevant organisation.

Requesting copies of plans and supporting documents

For legal, copyright and data protection purposes, we can't provide copies of plans, drawings or other documents that we hold.

These documents are usually the intellectual property of the individual or company that created them and may also contain personal information. As an organisation, we must follow the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) when handling information held on our records.

If you need copies of plans or documents, please contact the property owner, applicant, architect, designer or agent directly.
