Mental Health First Aid (2 days)

This is a 2 day event, both days of each event need to be attended:

15th October and 17th October 2024 at Shirehall, Shrewsbury

28th October and 31st October 2024 at The Lantern, Shrewsbury

13th January and 14th January 2025 at The Lantern, Shrewsbury

18th March and 20th March 2025 at The Lantern, Shrewsbury

12th May and 15th May 2025 at The Lantern, Shrewsbury


Aims to:
• Preserve life where a person may be a danger to themselves or others
• Provide help to prevent a mental health problem developing into a more serious state
• Raise awareness of mental health issues in the community
• Promote the recovery of good mental health
• Provide comfort to a person experiencing a mental health problem
• Reduce stigma and discrimination

This two-day course trains you as a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider®) and will give you:
• An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
• Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of a range of mental health issues
• Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress using the Mental Health First Aid action plan
• Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
• Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether through self-help resources, internal support such as EAP, or external sources such as their GP
• An understanding of how to keep yourself safe while performing your duties

You will also gain access to MHFAider® Support and Benefits with MHFA England:

You will receive a certificate from Mental Health First Aid England on completion of the two days, also a workbook which covers all aspects of the course.

Facilitator: Approved MHFA England instructors from Joint Training

Audience: This course is ideal for staff in every workplace at every level who would like to become an MHFAider®, also suitable for volunteers, family carers and service users.
