Aims to: Enhance learners' understanding of learning disabilities and autism, best practices in health and social care settings, and how this is supported by current legislation.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the lives and experiences of people with a learning disability and recognise their strengths and contributions
- Explore factors which impact on the quality of care and support of people with a learning disability
- Understand the key findings from the Learning from Lives and Deaths reviews(LeDeR)
- Understand why autism is described as an invisible condition
- Recognise potential differences, strengths and challenges and possible triggers for anxiety for autistic people
- Know what reasonable adjustments are and how to make them
- Be familiar with legislation and resources for inclusive enabling services
Audience: This training is fully funded for Shropshire Council staff working in: START, Day Services, Four Rivers Nursing Home, adult social workers/social care practitioners, adult OTs and OTAs and Shared Lives Carers.

Facilitators: National Health Service England (NHSE) approved facilitating trainers, co-trainers with a living disability, and autistic co-trainers.
