Understanding Trauma and the Principles of Trauma Informed Care

Aims to: Increase knowledge around supporting a trauma informed environment and those who may have experienced trauma

Learning objectives:

• To develop an understanding of trauma, including types of trauma and possible causes
• Explore the Principles of Trauma Informed Care
• Consider secondary trauma including compassion fatigue
• Discuss how an organisation can be more trauma informed
• Demonstrate an awareness of good practice and guidance in relation to supporting people who have experienced trauma
