Free training

Thanks to support from UKSPF funding, we're able to offer a range of FREE training over the coming months for businesses in the visitor economy sector. 

Emergency first aid – course overview 

Learn essential life-saving skills in a fun and interactive environment. Our experienced instructor will guide you through practical scenarios and equip you with the knowledge to handle emergencies confidently. A full day of training covering seizures, burns, broken bones, CPR, choking, head injuries, allergies and more. 

You'll receive a free first aid workbook full of helpful advice; this can be taken home and used to check and refresh your knowledge. 

The workbook includes your certificate of learning. 

The course is a workplace qualification, and the duration is six hours of teaching time. There are practical assessments but no written test. The qualification is valid for three years in any workplace setting. 

Food safety level 2 course

This course is for all handlers of food who prepare food in any way. It empowers through knowledge and also focusses on 'Natasha’s Law', and how to support those with allergies. 

The qualification is universal for any workplace setting, and is valid for three years. All attendees will receive a full colour A4 workbook for reference after the training.

Eligibility criteria

Funding has been secured from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support free training and consultancy for visitor economy businesses. To be eligible you must match the following criteria:

• Be a business based in the Shropshire Council area (please note that this excludes Telford & Wrekin)
  

• Be a business or a charity with a trading company (we're not able to support community groups or charities that don't have a trading company)

• Be a business involved in the visitor economy directly or indirectly, such as: 

  • Accommodation provider
  • Hospitality business
  • Attraction
  • Outdoor activity provider
  • Independent shop
  • Transport provider
  • Support service to the visitor economy sector
