Licences Vary designated premises supervisor

Every premises that authorises the supply of alcohol must specify one person as the designated premises supervisor (DPS), this will normally be the person who has day to day responsibility for running the premises. The only exception to this is for some community premises – see our disapply designated premises supervisor page for more information on this.

If the person who is the DPS is going to change you will need to make an application to vary the DPS named on the licence, this must be done immediately. It's also the licence holder’s responsibility to inform the outgoing DPS of the proposed change.

Am I eligible to apply to vary the DPS?

Yes, if you’re the current premises licence holder and have a new proposed DPS who already holds a personal licence.

How long will it take?

There is a 14 day consultation period with the Police and Home Office for vary DPS applications. As long as the application is valid it has immediate interim effect as soon as we receive it until it's formally determined, this is to prevent any interruption to normal business at the premises.

If you are unable to pay for your application online, please contact the Licensing team using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
