Countryside feedback: public rights of way
To report an issue please either:
- Complete the online form on this page
- Or, if you wish to attach a photograph to your report, please email together with details of your issue to outdoor.recreation@shropshire.gov.uk
Please use one of these methods, as this ensures that all reported issues are logged and sent to the appropriate officer within the team who look after our public rights of way (PROW).
Route code
Supplying a route code for the PROW (public right of way) helps us to be clear where your reported issue is located. To find the route code please use our outdoor recreation map.
- If it's not already showing, select the ‘outdoor recreation layers’ checkbox to display the list of options.
- Tick the ‘Shropshire rights of way’ checkbox. You can also select the arrow icon to display the keys to the various types of rights of way.
- In the ‘find address or place’ search box, type in the town or village close to the issue you wish to report; this will give you a starting point.
- To help navigation, select the ‘+’ icon button (or press shift and +) to zoom in the map to locate the PROW you wish to report (please note that you can only view the PROW down to 1:10,000 scale).
- Select the line of the PROW where the issue is located.
- A pop-up box will then appear. On this pop-up, the route code will be within it.
Grid reference
To assist us further, it's very helpful if you can also provide us with the grid reference and/or the ‘What3Word’ location for your reported issue. This allows us to pinpoint where along the PROW your issue is located. The grid reference finder website will enable you to find this information.
- On the website, you can change the type of base map by using the icon at the top right of the map.
- To find the location of the issue, either put in a local postcode or search the map manually.
- Once you find the location, right click where the issue is that you wish to report, and a box will come up with lots of location information listed.
- The ten-figure grid reference information will be within the pop-up, as well as the What3Words location.
Please note: as there are over 5,600km of public rights of way in Shropshire, the team are kept very busy, so unfortunately we're unable to respond to every report on an individual basis.
