12-week grace period for blue badge holders – 12 March 2026
We've introduced a 12‑week grace period for expired blue badges to support applicants during their renewal process from 12 March 2026. Eligible badge holders will be permitted to use an expired badge for up to 12 weeks after its expiry date, provided it's used correctly.
This concession applies only within Shropshire Council-managed car parks and locations within the Shropshire Council area, so please be careful to check. Penalty charge notices (PCNs) will still be issued for other parking contraventions.
PCNs issued before the introduction of the grace period still apply, and the instructions on the PCN should be followed.
This grace period has been established due to continued high volume of applications and resulting longer processing times. Applicants are reminded to complete their renewal application 12 weeks ahead of their blue badge’s expiry date. This will help to avoid a period without blue badge concessions.
Further information about how to apply for and renew a blue badge is provided below.
Replace a lost, stolen or damaged Blue Badge
If your badge has been lost or stolen you should contact the police to find out if it's been handed in. If it hasn't, they'll give you a lost item number or crime report number. You can then apply for a replacement below.
We'd strongly advise that when not using your badge you remove it from your motor vehicle.
