School streets permit scheme
Our school street schemes aim to help children access their school safely, to promote active travel and to reduce air pollution by temporarily closing the area surrounding the school to vehicles during peak drop-off and pick-up times.
Vehicles aren't allowed to enter the zone during these times unless they've been granted an exemption. Vehicles may however exit a school street zone at any time without a permit.
How to get an exemption permit
You're required to apply for an exemption permit via MiPermit. You'll be required to create an account and upload your qualifying supporting evidence. Help on how to use MiPermit is available.
Shropshire Council employees should use personal email addresses to create an account, and shouldn't try to use their MiPermit staff permit.
A permit is to be in place before you can access the school streets zone within the prohibited times. Please allow ten working days for your application to be processed.
Successful applicants that provide a supporting email address will be notified by email of the issued permit. Applicants that provide an incomplete application will be contacted directly within ten working should their permit be rejected.
You'll be provided with a confirmation or rejection email once your application has been processed. Please allow ten working days for your application to be processed. Should your application be rejected, you'll be provided with the rejection reasons. There will be no charge for applying for an exemption permit, but it will remain your responsibility to keep your details up to date. Please see our FAQs for further details.
Please note that our exemption permits are virtual, which means that you don't get a paper permit to display on your vehicle.
