Documents you'll need to apply for an exemption

Residents

  • A valid council tax reference number for the property in the required street zone
  • Proof of your vehicle V5C / lease agreement / company car showing your name, the vehicle registration number, and the address it is registered

School staff

  • A letter from the school to confirm your employment with a requirement to park on the school site
  • Proof of the vehicle V5C / lease agreement / company car required to access the school street zones showing employees name and address or proof of insurance showing you as a named driver
  • Copy of blue badge (front and back) if you are a blue badge holder

Blue badge holders

  • A letter from the school to prove a child’s attendance at a school within a school street zone and a copy of the holder’s valid blue badge (front and back) requiring access to the school  
  • Proof of the vehicle V5C / lease agreement / company car showing the name and the vehicle registration number for vehicle used for the transportation of the blue badge holder

Temporary access

A A temporary discretionary concession application form completed by the applicant and endorsed by the headteacher. Application forms should be requested from the school and will be sent from the school to the parking team.

Businesses

  • A valid registered business reference number and trading name of business at the specified address within a school street zone
  • Proof of your vehicle V5C / lease agreement / company car showing your name / business
  • Proof your business has private parking accessed through a restricted school street, eg a property plan or photograph showing parking space in context to premises

Proof of any vehicle owned by your employees requiring access to your private parking should meet one or more of the following conditions

  • Proof of employment, eg wage slip or contract with sensitive information redacted, and proof of the vehicle V5C / lease agreement / company car showing your employees name and the vehicle registration number

or

  • Proof of insurance showing your employee is a named driver
  • A copy of employee's blue badge (front and back)  if applicable (private parking space not applicable)

Carers

  • Proof of employment as a professional heath carer
  • A copy of receipt of carers allowance or carers credit benefits, or a letter signed and dated by the resident confirming name, address and care requirements. In these circumstances, each application will be considered on its own merits
  • Proof of the vehicle V5C / lease agreement / company car showing the name and the vehicle registration number for vehicle used for the transportation of the blue badge holder
  • A copy of the holder’s valid blue badge (front and back) requiring access to the school street zone

Private off-street parking accessed within a zone

  • Proof of your vehicle V5C / lease agreement / company car showing your name, the vehicle registration number, and the address it is registered
  • Proof that you have private parking accessed through a restricted school street, eg a property plan or garage rental agreement in your name
