Adopted Local Plan
The adopted Local Plan for Shropshire consists of the Core Strategy (2011) and Site Allocations and Management of Development (SAMDev) Plan (2015), collectively covering the period 2006-2026.
- The Core Strategy set out the Council’s vision, strategic objectives, broad spatial strategy, and strategic policies to guide future development
- The SAMDev Plan provides detailed ‘development management’ and ‘settlement’ policies to guide future development and identifies specific locations for development
Alongside ‘made’ Neighbourhood Plans, the adopted Local Plan forms the Development Plan for Shropshire.
The Development Plan is the starting point when determining a planning application in Shropshire, although decisions are also informed by any material considerations.
The adopted Local Plan will remain part of the Development Plan for Shropshire until a new Local Plan is adopted - even beyond the end of the plan period.
