“I approached the advisor at Shrewsbury Livestock Market at the end of January because I wanted my blood pressure checked. During the examination, my systolic reading was over 200, and it was still high after three checks. The advisor told me I needed to go to my GP immediately. I returned two weeks later and told her that my GP had prescribed medication and warned me that if I hadn’t seen a healthcare professional sooner, I could be at risk of an imminent stroke or heart attack. Over the past six months, my blood pressure has been monitored regularly, and I’m pleased to say it’s now down to 135 systolic.”

“I approached the advisor at Shrewsbury Livestock Market to have my blood pressure checked. After three checks, my highest reading was 166/74. The advisor talked to me about some lifestyle changes I could make. We discussed small adjustments to my eating habits, like reducing portion sizes and lowering my sugar and salt intake. Over the past six months, I’ve gone back every few weeks to have my BP checked. Thanks to these changes, my blood pressure has dropped to 132/65 and has stayed stable.”

“I first came across the health team at Ludlow Livestock Market back in June 2024. My blood pressure was way too high at 190 systolic, so we rang my GP right then and there, and I was able to get a same-day appointment. Then, I saw them again at Bishops Castle Livestock Market a year later, in June 2025, and I told them I’ve been put on blood pressure tablets. We discussed the changes I’ve made—cutting back on salt and trying to eat better—and I told them I’m feeling a lot more positive about things. I won’t lie, it’s a struggle sometimes with side effects, but they told me to be honest with my GP and ask about switching to a different medication if needed.”

“Today, I asked if I could get a full heart and health check. I’d been waiting for the mobile health hub at the market because it’s easier than going to the GP. I mentioned I’ve been feeling more tired lately and a bit under the weather, and I wondered if it’s the tablets or something else. When they checked my blood pressure today, it was 145—a lot better than last year. My HbA1c was 50, so I’m now in the diabetic range, but I wasn’t surprised because I just haven’t been feeling myself. I asked if they could call my GP while I was there, and they did. The doctor’s office offered me another same-day appointment.

Before I left, I thanked them sincerely. I told them they’ve helped me a lot—maybe even saved my life—and I really appreciate it. Making small changes has made a big difference, not just for me but for my wife and family too. I’m grateful for all the support; it’s truly made a difference in my life.”
