Bulgarian Community Project

The Outreach Team supports ethnic minorities by providing tailored services that address specific cultural and language needs. We engage directly with diverse communities, such as the Bulgarian community in Shropshire, through outreach and participation in community events, including weekend Bulgarian school sessions.

Services include welfare support, translation assistance, and education about navigating local healthcare systems, ensuring that ethnic minorities can access the care and support they need. Community members from these groups regularly contribute by offering blood pressure checks and supporting at community events.

The team collaborates with schools to assist families with translation and cultural understanding and works with health protection professionals to deliver vaccination awareness sessions to secondary school students. We also assist GP practices in supporting patients from minority backgrounds.
