Fares, tickets and railcards

National Railcards are available for seniors, veterans, disabled people and young people.

Standard and season tickets can also be purchased online with National Rail Enquires or directly through operators and at staffed stations (details above).

Shropshire Council offers a reduced cost for senior railcards for qualifying applicants instead of a national bus pass, details can be found here

Heritage rail

There are a number of heritage railways operating in Shropshire.

• Cambrian Heritage Railway operates two separate railways, one at Llynclys and the other at Oswestry.  
• Severn Valley Railway operates between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster.
• Bridgnorth Cliff Railway is England’s oldest and steepest inland funicular railway and operates between Bridgnorth’s High Town and Low Town.

Bikes on trains

If you're planning to take your bicycle on the train it's always best to contact the train company to book a place for your bicycle in advance. National Rail provides some information for cyclists. You can find out if the station you're travelling from has bike parking facilities using the station services and facilities information on the National Rail website.
