Bronygarth Bridge, Ceiriog Valley near Oswestry

Repair works at Bronygarth Bridge continue to progress. The bridge was closed following structural damage caused by Storm Bert, and repairs began on Wednesday 1 October.

Current works to be completed include:

  • Repairs to the masonry parapet and wing wall

The reinstatement of the downstream end of the culvert has now been completed. [Photos one and two]

Excavation to the downstream left embankment has now been completed, this will allow concrete pours for access steps to take place, which is expected to be completed early next week. [Photo three]

Once the access steps have cured, scaffolding will be erected along the downstream end of the bridge so that masonry repairs can begin.

Following completion of the structural works, reinstatement of the carriageway will commence.

Works are expected to be completed by March 2026 dependent on weather conditions.
