Shropshire Virtual School In year school admissions new process

Shropshire Virtual School logo

From 1 September 2024, the responsibility of the co-ordination and allocation of all in-year school places returned to the Local Authority for all schools in Shropshire. Therefore, should a child require a new school admission, part way through an academic year, applications should now be made via the Shropshire admissions portal portal Synergy - Homepage (shropshire.gov.uk).

Please remember that school applications for looked-after children should only be made to schools judged to be Good or Outstanding by Ofsted in all categories (as there is no one-word judgement now). Please consult with your child’s VS Link if you would like to discuss an admission to a school where this is not the case. Further information on In Year School Admissions including access to the online application portal can be found here at changing your child's school (in-year applications) | Shropshire Council .

Please note that all Schools Admissions guidance relates to children and young people who reside in Shropshire. Should you have a child or young person who resides in another local authority area or if you require guidance on how to apply to schools in a neighbouring or other local authority, please see guidance at apply to start or transfer school | Shropshire Council. For looked-after children, please consult your Virtual School link.
