Course schedule

This course is recommended for staff working in health and social care who need to prevent and/or intervene in crisis situations and whose Training Needs Analysis has established that they require disengagement and holding skills.

This course is for Shropshire Council staff working in Adult Social Care Teams only.  It is tailored specifically for staff who do not provide direct care.

Learn the skills and knowledge needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and competently intervene to help create suicide-safety as a first aid approach. Learn and practice suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any professional or personal setting.

Our four hour course is an introductory session to raise awareness of young people’s mental health. Learn how to have a supportive conversation and relate to young people's experiences

Learn about Epilepsy in adults, the causes, different types of epilepsy and seizures. Understand the care management of seizure and how to administer buccal midazolam.

Training to increase knowledge and awareness of the Mental Capacity Act MCA.

This course is recommended for staff who work in environments that require safe responses to escalating behaviours, but not restrictive or physical intervention techniques. Participants will learn how to respond to crisis situations with a focus on prevention, using verbal de-escalation skills and strategies where restraint is inappropriate.

Training to introduce the concept of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards DOLS.

Training for managers in adult safeguarding under the Care Act (2014) and adult safeguarding principles including Making Safeguarding Personal.

This course aims to raise awareness of what a stroke is and what action to take if you suspect someone is having a stroke.

Leadership and management training to introduce managers to the principles of improving the confidence and self esteem of staff.

Leadership and management training to explore change management and the importance of supporting your staff through change.
