This course is recommended for staff who work in environments that require safe responses to escalating behaviours, but not restrictive or physical intervention techniques. Participants will learn how to respond to crisis situations with a focus on prevention, using verbal de-escalation skills and strategies where restraint is inappropriate.

Training to increase knowledge to support assessment of mental capacity.

Leadership and management training to develop coaching skills of supervisors, team leaders and managers and how to develop successful coaching session with their staff.

Training to improve skills in making and recording best interests decisions.

This course is for Shropshire Council staff working in Adult Social Care Teams only.  It replaces the MAPA Personal Safety at Work course offered previously, includes disengagement skills and is tailored specifically for staff who do not provide direct care.
