The Cambrian Station Building is a Grade 2 listed building in the Ownership of Shropshire Council.
Whilst the ground floor is currently let on a tenancy at will to the Cambrian Heritage Railway who make seasonal use of the building, the building requires investment to make it safe and fully useable.
The council has a programme of work as follows:
Workstream 1: Immediate repairs – This work is on-going using government funding to make the exterior safe from falling masonry and remove asbestos tiles
Workstream 2: Conservation management plan and feasibility study – A council funded study to assess the conservation significance and advise on necessary internal repairs and future use of the building
The next steps will be to develop plans and seek funding for the internal restoration and re-use:
Workstream 3: First floor accommodation – a proposal to renovate and adapt the first floor for housing
Workstream 4: Ground floor mixed uses to make best use of the building and it’s location
