What is Shrewsbury Park and Ride?
Shrewsbury park and ride is the easy way into town - allowing you to reach the centre without having to navigate busy town centre traffic and avoiding the hassle of finding and paying for parking.
You can park for free at one of three sites conveniently located on the outskirts of town and take a direct bus into central Shrewsbury.

Where are the Park and Ride car parks located?
There are three sites conveniently located on the outskirts of town:
- Oxon: Behind Bicton Heath Co-operative, Welshpool Road, SY3 5AD
- Meole Brace: South of Meole Brace Retail Park, Hereford Road, SY3 9NB
- Harlescott: Next to Tesco Extra at Battlefield, SY1 4HA

Do I have to pay to park?
No. Parking at all three park and ride sites is completely free.
How can I pay for my journey?
Once one board the park and ride bus, you can pay using a contactless method (credit/debit card or device), or with cash.
How much does it cost?
- Standard (return fare) - £2 per person
- Concessionary pass holder (return fare) - £1 per person (after 9:30am)
- Accompanied children under 16 years – FREE
- Walkers (single fare) - £2 per person, each way
- Four-week saver - £32 per person (unlimited journeys on any Shrewsbury park and ride service within a consecutive 28-day period)
- Lost ticket fee - £2 per person

Are the buses accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs?
Yes, all the Shrewsbury Ride buses are designed with accessibility in mind with:
- Low-floor access
- Ramps for wheelchair users
- Space for buggies, wheelchairs and mobility aides
- Shrewsbury Park and Ride is operated by Arriva who permit certain types of mobility scooters on board. An assessment and issuance of a ‘permit to travel’ is needed before your journey takes place. To arrange your assessment, contact the Arriva Customer Service team on 0344 800 4411.
Can I wait in my vehicle until the bus arrives?
No. After parking your vehicle, passengers are requested to wait at the designated shelter prior to the bus's scheduled arrival time. Passengers should not wait in their own vehicles until the bus arrives.
Bus drivers are not able to see if passengers have chosen to wait in their cars. Drivers are not permitted to wait for passengers to walk across to the shelter from their vehicle as they must depart at, or as close to, the designated time as possible.
If passengers are not at the shelter when the bus approaches, the bus will depart as timetabled.
Is there a park and ride bus to the hospital?
Yes - A Royal Shrewsbury Hospital shuttle services runs from the Oxon Park and Ride site. You can avoid the stress of hospital parking by using this dedicated shuttle service - a fast, convenient and affordable alternative for staff, patients, and visitors.
- Quick and direct: buses run every 15/20 minutes throughout the day, Monday to Friday
- Early start, late finish: the first bus leaves Oxon at 6:20am, with the last returning from the hospital at 9:25pm - perfect for early shifts, appointments or visiting hours
- Free for NHS staff and contractors with a valid ID badge
- Just £1 return for patients and visitors (children under 16 travel free when accompanied)
This service is a great way to avoid the often busy hospital car park and helps free up on-site spaces for those who need them most. The shuttle drops off and picks up at the Treatment Centre, the hospital’s new main entrance.

Who do I contact about lost property?
If you have left something on a park and ride bus, you will need to complete a lost property form at the Arriva website.
Can I use the park and ride bus if I haven’t parked a vehicle at one of the sites?
Yes. You are still able to use the park and ride service even if you arrive on foot, by bike, or are dropped off. However, please be advised that park and ride is designed for customers parking a car and accessing the town centre. For customers who have walked/cycled to the site, we must charge a 'walkers fare' of £2 per person, each way to avoid competition with nearby local bus services.
The walkers fare also applies to customers boarding a park and ride bus from the town centre for a one-way journey.
Who operates the Shrewsbury Park and Ride scheme?
The service is operated by Shropshire Council in partnership with a contracted bus operator, Arriva.
How do I provide feedback about the service?
You can share your feedback about by Shrewsbury Park and Ride by:

Can I park my motorhome at the Park and Ride sites?
Motorhomes are welcome, but height barriers will restrict access initially. Please speak to an Arriva staff member for assistance. Staff can usually be found in the driver rest rooms near the main shelters. If a member of staff isn't present at the rest room, you'll need to await their return
Please be aware that no overnight parking is permitted, vehicles left in the car park after the last bus leaves (approximately 6:40pm) may be locked in. If this happens, call 0345 678 9006 to request release. A £60 (cash-only) call-out fee applies.
All park and ride car parks are closed on Sundays and bank/public holidays.
Can I bring animals on the bus?
Passenger assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs, will always be carried free of charge.
Other animals, that aren't considered a danger or nuisance to other passengers, will be carried free at the driver’s discretion. The passenger taking the animal on the bus will be responsible for any damage, loss or injury arising from its presence. Animals are not permitted on the seats.
Is there CCTV at the car parks?
CCTV coverage is available at each site, although it is limited. Please note that vehicles are parked at your own risk. Shropshire Council and its subsidiaries can't accept responsibility for any damage or loss.
