Book Connect on Demand

Step one: download the app

Start by downloading the Connect On-Demand app from the Apple App store or Google Play store. Once installed, tap “Get Started” to register your details and add a credit or debit card.

Don't have a smartphone?

No problem, you can still use the service by calling our booking line. Our team will help you register for the service and book your journey over the phone.

Have a concessionary bus pass or a young person’s discount (age 6-19)? 

Give us a quick call on 0345 678 9013 or send us an email at connect@shropshire.gov.uk and we’ll link your pass or discount to your account.

This way, you’ll be able to travel at the correct fare, whether that’s free or reduced. Just remember to show your bus pass to the driver when you board. 

Step two: choose how you’d like to travel

Travel Now (On-Demand) 

  • Select “Now” in the app to see available journeys in the next 30 minutes 
  • If nothing shows up right away, don’t worry—just check again in a few minutes 

You’ll see: 

  • When your driver can pick you up 
  • Where your nearest stop is 
  • These options are live and update quickly, so be ready to book when you see one that works!

Book ahead (advance booking) 

  • Plan your journey from two hours to one month in advance 
  • You’ll be offered 30-minute time slots around your requested time 
    (e.g. request 10:30 → see 9:45–10:15 or 10:35–11:05) 
  • If you don’t see many options, try adjusting your time slightly 

💡 Top tip:

If you’re travelling during busy times (7:30–10:00am or 3:30–6:00pm) or need to arrive at a specific time, we strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. 

Step three: confirm your journey

Once you’ve picked a time that suits you: 

  • Tap “Reserve ride” in the app 
  • Or confirm with one of our friendly booking agents over the phone 

We’ll take care of the rest—our system will group bookings to make the service as efficient as possible. 

Step four: get your pick up time

Your six-minute pick-up window will be confirmed: 

  • By 9pm the night before (for next-day travel) 
  • One hour before your trip (if booked after 9pm) 
  • You’ll get a text message with your window

🔔 We’ll keep you updated 

You’ll also get a text when your driver: 

  • Is 30 minutes away 
  • Is 10 minutes away 
  • Has arrived at your bus stop 

Note: If you’re the first pick-up of the driver’s shift, the 30-minute text might not send—but don’t worry, your driver will still be on time and trackable in the app. 

Your collection

  • Please aim to be at your stop at the start of your six-minute window 
  • Our drivers will wait two minutes before moving on 
  • If they arrive early, they’ll wait until your window begins, then two minutes more 

Accessibility for everyone

All our vehicles are designed with accessibility in mind: 

  • Low floors 
  • Ramp access for wheelchair users, pushchairs, and anyone with mobility difficulties 

We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable on board.

Easy, cash-free payments 

  • Your fare is charged automatically through the app after your journey 
  • No need to carry cash or pay on the bus
