Great British summer savings: free bus travel for children this August
Families across Shropshire could save money on summer days out thanks to the government's Great British Summer Savings campaign.
Throughout August 2026, children aged 5 to 15 can travel free on participating bus services in England, helping families make the most of the school holidays while reducing travel costs. The initiative aims to make it easier and more affordable for families to access attractions, activities, sports clubs and cultural events during the summer.

Which bus services are taking part?
We are currently working with local bus operators to confirm which services across Shropshire will be participating in the scheme.
A full list of participating operators, routes and any conditions of travel will be published here as soon as they are confirmed.
Please check back soon for updates.
Helping families save this summer
The free bus travel offer is part of the wider Great British Summer Savings campaign, which includes support for families across a range of leisure, hospitality and visitor attractions. The Government expects the scheme to help more families travel to summer activities and attractions while supporting local businesses and visitor destinations.
